The Road Within

About

I live in south Louisiana, and every so often I go somewhere by myself.

Not always far. The trips that end up here are less about distance than about what happens when you step out of your ordinary life for a few days — the cabin with no cell service, the trail nobody else is on, the long stretch of afternoon with nothing scheduled in it. Some of that is the place. Most of it is what the place does to you once the noise drops away.

So these aren't reviews, exactly, though I'll tell you honestly what the roads were like and whether there were enough forks in the drawer. They're closer to a record: where I went, what I noticed, and what I was thinking about while I was there.

Travel outward. Journey inward. That's the whole idea.
