I come from south Louisiana, which means food is not just sustenance. It is a love language.

At home, I am a husband and a father. My wife is an exceptional woman and mother, and together we are raising two young men I am genuinely proud of. We also share our home with three cats…I have made my peace with it. My days are full. I work in advertising, managing a team and carrying the weight that comes with it. It is meaningful work, but it can be relentless, and for a long time the doing suffocated the being.

A silent retreat with my father in the spring of 2025 changed something in me. I did not go looking for an awakening. I went looking for quiet and found something I did not expect. The beginning of a question I am still learning to answer. What does inner peace actually look like? Not as an idea, but as a practice.

That question sent me inward, and outward. I started reading more deeply. Non-fiction with spiritual foundations, wisdom from across many traditions and faiths, anything that inspired me to live with an open mind and an open heart. I play the djembe and the handpan, instruments that require me to slow down and listen. I wander thrift stores looking for nothing in particular and sometimes finding that.

Most of all, I love my family. I do all of this, the trips, the silence, the searching, for them. Because the man who comes home matters more than the miles he traveled to get there.
